Three Minute Makeup

Three Minute Makeup

Some morning I just don’t have the time or energy to fuss around with elaborate makeup looks, but I still want to look as though I have my life together and haven’t just rolled out of bed. For those days, my go-to east makeup look usually consists of the follow foolproof products. I have chosen these products for their versatility and ease of application.

On days when I am in a pinch for time, I will forgo my daily moisturiser and instead opt for a tinted moisturiser such as Laura Mercier’s oil free Tinted Moisturiser (in the shade Nude), which is especially great for those – like me – who may get a little extra unwanted oiliness throughout the day. I admit as an oily gal, I often cringe at the thought of a tinted moisturiser. This product, however, is flawless. My T-zone stays oil free throughout the day (even throughout hot and sunny Perth days), and the coverage is decent for a lightweight tint. If I have any extra spots or areas that I want to cover up (such as those pesky dark circles) there is no surprise that I reach for my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Vanilla).

To add some quick colour and depth back into my complexion, I cannot go past Urban Decay’s Naked Flushed Palette in Streak. I quickly add some bronzer in a ‘3’ motion around the perimeter of my cheeks, then swirl the highlighter and blush colours together to add a subtle and glow-y tint to my cheeks. This brightens up my face to make me look fresh like a daisy. I love this palette because it combines three products in one, so I save time that I would have otherwise spent reaching for each powder separately.

The next step is onto eyes. If I have time, I will brush through my eyebrows with Benefit’s Gimme Brow in Light/Medium. This product quickly adds a natural tint to my unruly brows whilst also sculpting them. For some quick, everyday colour to my lids I love MAC’s Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Groundwork. This product is incredibly quick and easy to use: I just sweep a little bit on my lids using my ring finger and blend it out slightly. You can really add some surprising dimension with this product by lightly building it out and blending in certain areas. The formula is creamy but never creases. Finally I’ll add generous lashing of whatever my favourite mascara at the moment is, which today happens to be Bourjois’ Volume Glamour Ultra Curl mascara.

To finish off the look and pull everything together, I will quickly swipe on a balmy chubby stick, such as Revlon’s Colorburst Matte Balm in Elusive. This adds subtle colour and is also incredibly moisturising (which is especially of note because it’s a matte balm!).

I can work though this routine in a mere matter of minutes so that I’m out the door and still look the best that I can with limited time. This makeup look is also easy and laid-back for days where I don’t need to layer on the makeup.

What are your go-to products for a three minute makeup look?
